In 2005, a small milk shop in Colombo, known to locals as “Kiri Kade”, began selling fresh milk and its flavoured variants. Today that same site is home to Milky Fresh Dairies’ own manufacturing plant. Nilusha Engineering built the entire machinery plant behind it, and it is one of the projects we are proudest of.
Who they are
Milky Fresh Dairies was founded in 2005 with a clear goal: to serve fresh milk of the highest quality to customers in and around Colombo. The shop was celebrated for its fresh milk and flavoured milk, and over the years the business expanded into other regions of the country. Its manufacturing plant now stands at its very first location, and the brand is well known around Colombo.
What they make
- Milk: freshly drawn full cream milk, the product the business was built on.
- Yoghurt and yoghurt drinks: including a refreshing strawberry-flavoured yoghurt drink, sold singly or in bulk packs.
- Ice cream: vanilla, strawberry and chocolate, in family-size tubs.
- Butter: made with more than 82% pure milk fat, with no added colouring, flavours or stabilisers.
- Curd and ghee: everyday Sri Lankan staples.
- Cheese and paneer: fresh and frozen paneer, a soft, non-melting cheese made by curdling milk with a natural acid such as lemon juice.
- Energy and whey drinks: ready-to-drink options for an active lifestyle.

Our part in the story: the entire plant
When Milky Fresh decided to build the production facility behind its “Kiri Kade” roots, it chose to source the whole plant from a Sri Lankan manufacturer. Nilusha Engineering designed, manufactured and installed the complete machinery plant.
